Northwestern finishes doubleheader sweep with rout of Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Josh Lundeen caught eight passes for 99 yards and a touchdown and teammate Kyle Thomforde added seven catches for 141 as Northwestern claimed its second win on the day, a 47-14 over host Macalester Saturday night. Earlier in the day the Eagles downed Trinity Bible (N.D.) 59-0.

Tom Tadych intercepted three passes for the Eagles (5-2) and Max Meagher was in on 18 tackles, including five for loss of yardage. Northwestern intercepted six passes and registered seven quarterback sacks. Steven Hoggess ran for second quarter touchdowns of 16, 1 and 24 yards. Quarterback Zach Tarter went 18-for-28 for 242 yards and backup Aaron Hunter went 6-for-9 for 137.

Macalester (0-6) and a pair of 100-yard receivers. Tyler Schwecke caught eight passes for 101 yards and a 57-yard touchdown, and Andrew Connet hauled in seven passes for 103 yares. Ben Dickinson added 68 yards on four receptions. Nick Hanks completed 26 of 49 passes for 308 yards.

The Scots were led on defense by Alex Zweber and Tim Burns with 10 tackles apiece. Scott Martinson added eight tackles.

Northwestern led 14-0 after one quarter and 33-0 at halftime. The Eagles out-gained the Scots in total yardage 465-337, helping to offset 14 penalties for 122 yards.
