The NCAA playoff bracket is out!

Johns Hopkins was almost certainly the last team selected as an at-large, meaning Ithaca never got to the table.

Even when you don't agree with all the teams in the bracket, it's just nice to have a bracket back! Your top seeds: North Central, UW-Whitewater, St. John's and Mount Union. The committee chose the following five at-large teams: UW-La Crosse, Birmingham-Southern, Wheaton, Bethel, Johns Hopkins.

Ithaca and Bethel each had two Division III losses and Ithaca's strength of schedule was much better than Bethel's. So why did Ithaca not get in? It's likely that because of the way that the Region 2 committee set up its regional rankings, that Ithaca was never even considered. Ithaca and Johns Hopkins are both in Region 2 and Ithaca could not be selected until Johns Hopkins was in the field.

Hardin-Simmons also does not make this field. Randolph-Macon was the team left on the board at the end representing Region 3, when R-MC moved ahead of Hardin-Simmons. The Cowboys finished the season 9-1, with their only non-conference game a win against Wayland Baptist, which is a member of the NAIA and finished 2-8 this season, meaning HSU played nobody outside its conference who is a member of Division III.
