More news about: Greensboro

Tyler Card has been named the sixth head coach in Greensboro football history, acting athletic director Robin Daniel announced Tuesday.

He replaces Greg Crum. Crum coached the Pride for the past four seasons. Greensboro finished 1-9 each of those four seasons, 4-36 in total.

"Tyler is a great fit for Greensboro College," Daniel said. "He embraces the philosophy and priorities that guide the Division III mission and student-athlete experience.  I am excited about the impact he will have on individual players, the football program, and our campus at large."

Card joins the Pride following a five-year stint at Sul Ross State where he served as the offensive coordinator for the past three seasons. During that time, Card was credited with calling an offense that produced three all-conference selections in the American Southwest Conference.

In addition to his coaching experience at Sul Ross, Card also spent time at Pace, Weber State, and Southern Virginia, where he served as a recruiting coordinator and offensive line coach.

"I am humbled and honored to become the head football coach at Greensboro College," Card said. "I love football and all it has taught me about life. Being able to lead a group of young men is a great responsibility. I want to thank President (Lawrence) Czarda, Dr. Daniel, and the rest of the search committee for entrusting me with this opportunity. Greensboro College is a beautiful campus in a great city, and I can't tell you how excited I am."

Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Card played two years at Southern Virginia where he earned All-American honors as an offensive lineman and participated in the NAIA Senior All-Star game.

Card graduated from Southern Virginia University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in business management and Leadership before going on to obtain a master's in professional communication from Weber State and a masters of health and human performance from Sul Ross.

Card and his wife, Danielle, have two children, Rocky and Gloria.
