Let's start the season where some of our D3football.com crew will be: at one of the three games between ranked teams in Week 1, featuring Washington and Lee at Johns Hopkins. One of the nice things about this game is it represents an improvement in the non-conference scheduling for each of these teams, and a good test for teams that made the playoffs last year. From there, you have a relatively short drive on Friday to go see Delaware Valley at Wesley and see what the post-Joe Callahan Wolverines look like. On Saturday, make the trip back up Route 13 past Wesley (more on that in a minute) up to Chester, Pa., to see a great area rivalry in Rowan at Widener. Leslie C. Quick, Jr., Stadium is a great place to see a game -- better later in the fall with the leaves turning but still good. And we finish the night heading back down I-95 to see Shenandoah at Gallaudet in Washington, D.C.

Yes, there is another really good choice on Friday that also involves two ranked teams, and that's Albright at Salisbury. Also a great game between two ranked teams, and the first game in Salisbury's new stadium, so that's attractive. But driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on the Friday of Labor Day weekend just might take all day, so keep that in mind. You could see Bridgewater take on Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon instead and use that as a launching point to get to Frostburg State for their game vs. Geneva on Saturday as well, but that last game might not be competitive.
