For the third consecutive year, the Division III football championship game will be played in prime time on a Friday night. Stagg Bowl XLI has been scheduled for Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, airing at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
The championship game date and time is determined primarily by television, with input from the NCAA. In recent years, the only options have been Friday night at 7 p.m. ET or Saturday morning at 11 a.m. ET.
The game has been held at Salem Stadium in Salem, Va., since 1993. Last year, an announced crowd of 6,027 saw Mount Union win its 11th national title, defeating St. Thomas 28-10. Half of all Division III football championship games have been played in Salem.
