Thiel, Rockford snap long streaks

Thiel snapped a 24-game losing streak after a bad snap in overtime, while Rockford ended its own 23-game losing streak in Week 3 Division III football action.

Kicker Cody McClelland picked up the bad snap on a would-be field-goal attempt in overtime and found tight end Berend Grube for the game-winning touchdown against Geneva. The Tomcats won 21-14. For Rockford, Jacob Arnold returned an Olivet interception 50 yards for a touchdown and Matthew Botello ran for 177 yards and a touchdown in a 28-12 win.

Salve Regina has the longest active winning streak in Division III now, with nine consecutive wins after a 34-7 victory against Fitchburg State

Heidelberg's Cartel Brooks rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns as the Student Princes blasted Ohio Northern, 43-7. 

Chris Ruiz had eight catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns as Delaware Valley, a preseason top-10 team, won its first game of the season, 34-10 at Stevenson. Jim Clements broke the school's record for career coaching victories with his 52nd. 

Benedictine scored 25 unanswered points in the second half to knock off Albion 32-28. The win gave the NATHC a 5-2 advantage in the MIAA-NATHC challenge. John Borsellino scored three second-half touchdown, the clincher on a 77-yard kickoff return. Jake Koehler threw for 386 yards and five touchdowns as Concordia-Chicago won a 63-47 shootout with Hope.

St. Norbert stole a last-second win from Ripon, defeating the Red Hawks 35-31. Austin Williams scored the game-winning touchdown with 12 seconds left. Wartburg bounced back from last week's shutout loss to beat Carthage 27-3. Frostburg State's Ken Emmons threw the game-winning score to running back Chuky Iweh with just 43 seconds remaining on the clock to lift the Bobcats past Case Western Reserve 17-16. 

On Friday night Rowan outgained William Paterson, 500-95, in a 51-0 NJAC victory. Ed Eisenhart hauled in three of Louie Bianchini's four touchdown passes for the Profs. Willamette led East Texas Baptist 28-3 at the half but had to hold on down the stretch to win 38-24.

Phil Neumann threw two touchdown passes in the final three minutes and added a third for the game-winning score in overtime as Ithaca rallied to beat Union 27-24.
