Former Albion quarterback Steve Wasil is currently the most prominent former Briton still playing football. He’s started for the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League.

Chris Greenwood is on track to eclipse that soon, however, as the two-time D3football.com All-America selection at cornerback is turning heads among NFL scouts. Greenwood stood out at the University of Michigan’s pro day, where he reportedly turned in a 4.41 in the 40-yard dash, with a vertical of 43 inches and 16 bench press reps at 225 pounds.

"It's exciting," Greenwood told the Detroit News recently. "I'm living a dream. It's fun. It's football. I know I have what it takes to play in the NFL. I can make plays. I'm just looking for an opportunity to show everyone."

Greenwood played in the East-West Shrine Game in January, one of the top senior all-star games. “It was fun to get out and play football with a high level of competition,” Greenwood said. "Everybody has a lot of talent at this level so a lot of time was spent on techniques because excelling at the little stuff helps you get farther. I was ready to soak up whatever the coaches had to teach me."

NFL Draft Scout currently rates Greenwood 25th among cornerbacks and projects him to go in the fifth to sixth round. There has been just one Division III football player selected in the past three drafts: Mount Union’s Cecil Shorts, who went to Jacksonville in the fourth round of 2011, with the 114th overall pick.

Greenwood worked out for the Miami Dolphins on Albion’s campus last month and also has visits and workouts scheduled with the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans.
