Frostburg State's season started with tragedy but the Bobcats have equaled their best win total of the past six seasons, improving to 3-4 with a 54-53 double overtime win against Alfred.
Josh Volpe was 33-for-59 passing for 441 yards and six touchdowns and Anthony Young caught 16 of those passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bobcats, who are 2-2 in their first season in the Empire 8.
Adrian improved to 7-0 with a 52-21 win at Kalamazoo behind 121 yards on 28 carries from Damon Brown and 236 passing yards from Brandon Miller. Trine fell at home to Hope 28-23, and Albion rolled Olivet 52-7, remaining unbeaten in the MIAA, a half-game ahead of Adrian. Albion travels to Adrian next week.
Mike Zweifel caught 17 passes for 207 yards and Demacus Fleming added 11 catches for 236 as Wyatt Hanus threw seven touchdown passes in Dubuque's 47-17 win at Buena Vista. Zweifel needs just 11 more receptions to catch Westminster (Mo.) receiver Scott Pingel for the most career catches in NCAA football history.
Centre remained undefeated, topping Sewanee 28-14. Washington and Lee survived a back-and-forth battle as the Generals rolled up 606 yards of total offense in defeating Bridgewater 52-42. Three Generals rushed for more than 100 yards apiece. Utica got a signature win in the Empire 8, defeating Ithaca 20-15. Lee Lukasevic kicked a 23-yard field goal with 1:30 left to lift Ohio Northern past John Carroll 24-21. Tyler Rue was 22-for-26 for 273 yards for the Polar Bears. St. John Fisher improved to 6-1, holding Springfield to 132 yards on 42 carries in a 33-6 win.
LaQuan Robinson returned an interception 83 yards for a score and then returned a kickoff 88 yards for another as Widener belted Lebanon Valley, 57-33. The win keeps the Pride within striking distance of first-place Delaware Valley in the MAC, ahead of their Week 11 showdown.
Catholic had another cardiac finish, rallying from 10 down in the fourth quarter and defeating Emory and Henry 28-24. Mike Pitsenberger scored the game-winner with 21 seconds left. Since Catholic joined the ODAC in 1999, the Cardinals are 7-6 against Emory and Henry and 17-44 against everyone else in the league.
Trinity (Conn.) won its 42nd consecutive home game and pitched its third consecutive shutout, defeating Bowdoin 31-0. Castleton State intercepted five passes and kept Anna Maria winless for the history of the program with a 39-34 victory. Endicott remained unbeaten, topping Mass-Dartmouth 27-14. Monmouth gave up another big bunch of points but defeated Beloit 63-41. DePauw shook off a slow start and scored 34 unanswered points to beat Ohio Wesleyan 34-10. La Verne handed Chapman its first loss by a D-III foe, 30-21.
