Becker promotes from within

More news about: Becker

Michael Lichten Becker announced the hiring of Michael Lichten as the school's new head football coach.

The team's defensive coordinator this past season, Lichten replaces Bill McDonald, who resigned, according to a school release, earlier this offseason. The Hawks were 2-8 this past season and have compiled a record of 6-49 in the team's six seasons of varsity football.

Lichten will be the fourth coach in the program's short history.

Prior to his arrival at Becker, Lichten spent two seasons at Northeastern and a season at New Hampshire as an assistant coach.

“It is a great honor to be given the opportunity to lead the Becker College football program," said Lichten. "It will be my focus to develop our players not only into great athletes, but into tremendous students and young adults as well."

“I am very excited that Michael Lichten has accepted our offer to become the next head football coach at Becker College," said athletic director Frank Millerick. "Coach Lichten is well aware of the challenges that are ahead of him and I have all the confidence that he will step and meet these challenges head on.  In a very short period of time Coach Lichten has earned the respect and admiration of not only his student-athletes, but the entire Becker community.  There is a lot of work to be done and I know Coach Lichten is eager to begin.”

Lichten graduated from New Hampshire, where he received a bachelors degree in history.
