Usually we don't get a chance to see Mount Union in person
before November at the earliest, more often December. The frank
fact of the matter is, it's hard to justify a long trip just to see
a blowout, and that's often what Mount Union does.
But we knew this past weekend had a chance to be different. While
UW-Oshkosh hasn't contended in some time, a WIAC team is always a
challenge. The Titans would be playing their second game, to the
Purple Raiders' first. And they would be at home against a Mount
Union lineup starting 10 sophomores.
So it was worth a look-see. Pat
Coleman talks about what he saw from Mount Union in this week's
Around the Nation Podcast.
That's far from all that's covered, though. Keith McMillan took a
drive of his own and saw something unique within Division III, the
Merchant Marine-Coast Guard rivalry, on the anniversary of the 9/11
attacks as well. Plus the two talk about the big upsets of the day
and what we've learned about the top conferences after some big
games.
