By the end of the weekend, every team that plays in Week 1 will
have opened preseason camp.
The first five days of camp for all teams are a conditioning
period, during which no more than one practice may take place and
practice may not exceed three hours in length. The first two days
are helmets only, followed by two days in helmets and shoulder pads
and full pads thereafter.
The average Division III roster is a lot larger than most people
think. In Kickoff, we report the number of players that came to
camp for each school we cover and found that more than 20,000
players can say they play Division III football on an annual
basis.
This weekend, Pat Coleman and Keith McMillan are meeting to
tackle the biggest collaboration of Kickoff: the ranking. Every
year, the pair rank all of the Division III football teams, from
top to bottom.
Make sure you represent your school: UW-Whitewater leads the way,
with Hardin-Simmons, St. John's, Occidental and Hampden-Sydney fans
rounding out the top five fan bases in Kickoff
purchases. Sales help fund our Division III coverage year-round,
plus they get you informed on everything you need before the
Division III football season starts.
