Ian Blankenship and Yusuf Aladinov lead the D3football.com 2021 All-Region 1 team. Blankenship was named Region 1 Offensive Player of the Year, while Aladinov was named the Region 1 Defensive Player of the Year.

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 1 includes the Commonwealth Coast Conference, Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, Middle Atlantic Conference, New England Small College Athletic Conference, New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference.

Blankenship, a senior from McRae, Georgia, ran the Merchant Marine option offense, running for 1,358 yards and 19 touchdowns in 10 games for the Mariners. He also threw for 1,171 yards and 15 touchdowns, with just three interceptions.

Aladinov, a junior from Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, helped the Aggies go 11-1, win the Middle Atlantic Conference and advance to the second round of the NCAA playoffs. After starting the year at linebacker, Aladinov shifted to defensive end due to injury and rolled up 53 tackles, 23.5 for loss, and 11.5 sacks. He also recovered five fumbles, recorded a defensive touchdown and a safety.

The teams, selected in balloting by Region 1 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 197 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 79 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 17, in D3football.com’s pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVIII.
