More news about: Allegheny
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Allegheny College junior wide receiver Alex Victor is featured in the "Faces In The Crowd" section of this week's issue of Sports Illustrated, which hit newsstands and mailboxes on Oct. 4.

Victor is the first Gator student-athlete in nearly two decades to appear in the "Faces in the Crowd" section, which celebrates the accomplishments of amateur athletes across the country. The last Gator featured in SI was track and field standout Jeremy Scott on Sept. 9, 2002.  Other Allegheny student-athletes featured in the section include national champion diver Melissa Moody on Apr. 29, 1991, and volleyball All-American Molly Dietz on Feb. 10, 1992.

Victor was spotlighted for his performance in the Gators' week two win over Wooster. In the Sept. 8 contest, he made six catches for 199 yards, including a 91-yard touchdown, and broke Allegheny's all-time career record for receiving yards in the process.

At the midpoint of the 2018 season, Victor has made 23 catches for 616 yards and four touchdowns, while he has also gained 87 rushing yards on 14 carries.  His 616 receiving yards and average of 26.8 yards per catch both lead the North Coast Athletic Conference and rank in the top five in all of NCAA Division III.

In 2017, Victor earned First Team All-NCAC honors after making 52 receptions and setting school records with 1,037 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Through just 24 career games played, he is already Allegheny's career record holder with 2,207 receiving yards and 27 touchdown receptions, while his 109 total receptions rank sixth in program history.

Sports Illustrated has included the "Faces in the Crowd" section since Jan. 9, 1956, and it aims to spotlight the best up-and-coming amateur athletes and notable accomplishments from across the nation. Hundreds of athletes featured in the SI segment in the past 62 years went on to become household names in the professional ranks, including such notable figures as Jack Nicklaus, Terry Bradshaw, Earvin Johnson, EmmittSmith, Tiger Woods, Tamika Catchings, Ben Roethlisberger, and Jennie Finch.

Victor and the Gators will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, when they play host to NCAC-leading Wittenberg at 1 p.m. at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
