HIRAM -- The Hiram College football team totaled 528 yards of total offense in a 45-7 win on Saturday.
The Terriers are now 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NCAC, while the Lords drop to 2-1, 1-1.
Senior Domenic Paolo (Chardon, Ohio/Harding) threw for 271 yards and five touchdowns.
Junior Danny Robinson (Labelle, Fla./Labelle) carried 15 times for 78 yards.
Senior wide receiver Joshua Philander (Fort Myers, Fla./ South Fort Myers) had eight reception for 108 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He also added a 28-yard touchdown on the ground.
Senior Akili Tate (Los Angeles, Calif./Juniperro Sierra) added 54 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
The Hiram defense was just as dominant, limiting Kenyon to 261 yards of total offense, with just 10 yards rushing, and 13 first downs.
Senior Kyle Burchett (Fairport Harbor, Ohio/Harding) led the Terrier defense registering 14 tackles, with one coming for a loss and forcing one breakup. Senior Zayd Mabin (Winter Haven, Fla./ Winter Haven) finished two sacks and senior Tim Hinton McCoy (North Olmsted, Ohio/ Bedford) followed with one.
Hiram got things going right away, with Philander scoring his first touchdown on a 28-yard run. After the extra point, the Lords tied the game at 7-7 just twenty seconds later. The Terriers took a 10-7 lead when junior Sam Conway (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) kicked a 32-yard field goal.
Both teams were scoreless until the end of the second quarter. With six seconds left to go in the half, Paolo threw senior David Perkins (Santa Ana, Calif./ Segerstrom) a 32-yard pass for a touchdown to give Hiram a 17-7 lead going into halftime.
The Terriers continued their momentum into the second half. On their first three possessions, Hiram tacked on three more touchdowns, two being scored by Tate and one being scored by Philander.
Philander would score again in the fourth quarter on a nine yard pass to secure the win for the Terriers.
The Terriers converted 7-of-15 (47 percent) of third downs, while the Lords were just 3-of-15 (20 percent).
Hiram will play next on September 24, when they travel to DePauw (Ind.) for a 1 p.m. conference matchup. The next home game will be on October 1st when the Terriers host #13 Wabash (Ind.) at 1 p.m.
