The Wabash College football team and campus community is mourning the loss of Evan Hansen, a senior captain, who died suddenly on Monday, Sept. 10.
Wabash had celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, honoring Hansen and 18 other seniors for the Little Giants. A two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection, Hansen was a four-year starter for Wabash and compiled 12 and a half career sacks.
“This is tremendously sad news and all of us at Wabash are grieving Evan and praying for him and his family,” said Wabash College president Gregory D. Hess. “He was a very well-liked young man and a real leader at Wabash. To say that he will be missed is an understatement.”
Support services for members of the College’s community are available through the Dean of Students Office, Wabash Counseling Center, and the Newman Center.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Carmel, Indiana, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14.
I still can’t believe it, don’t really wanna believe it. The Wabash community and the world lost a good one yesterday. R.I.P Evan Hansen, you were the truth. My heart is with all my brothers back at the Bash and the Hansen family.

NEVER be afraid to ask for help. ALWAYS ask people if they need it. This life isn't easy, and you should never feel like you have to go through it alone.

Sept. 10 was World Suicide Prevention Day.
