Offense
QB Cedric Townsend, Jr., N.C. Wesleyan
Townsend led the Battling Bishops to a 46-34 upset of 18th-ranked Christopher Newport. He was responsible for four Bishop touchdowns, two through the air and two on the ground. He threw for 277 yards on 17-of-30 passing against the ninth-ranked pass defense, statistically.
OL Pat Downs, Bobby George, Doug Macik, Alex Weaver, Derek Ulsh, Denison
The Denison offensive line helped a pair of DU backs rush for over 200-yards in DU's 41-35 overtime victory over Kenyon. Fred Lee finished with 31 carries for 203 yards and Jon Berg had 35 carries for 213 yards.
RB Mike Genslinger, So., UW-Platteville
Genslinger rushed for a UW-Platteville record 285 yards and scored all four touchdowns in a 28-10 win against UW-River Falls, the Pioneers' first win against the Falcons since 1992. Genslinger scored two 1-yard touchdowns in the first half, giving UWP a 14-3 lead. He then exploded for 208 yards in the second half, including an eight-yard TD run in the third quarter and the clinching score, a 69-yard TD with 3:28 remaining. Genslinger broke the school record by 51 yards.
RB Dan Lopez, Jr., Buffalo State
Lopez scored touchdowns of 7, 2 and 78 yards in Buffalo State's 24-21 come-from-behind win over Western Connecticut State. The Bengals trailed 13-0 in opening half, with Lopez scoring all three of his touchdowns in the second half. He finished with 187 yards on 27 carries.
WR Fred Carter, Sr., Montclair State
Carter pulled in five passes and set personal marks with 127 yards and two touchdowns as the Red Hawks shocked No. 7 Rowan, 27-20 in overtime. Carter, who avereged 25.4 yards per catch, had a 78-yard catch and run that he pulled in after a defender tipped the ball to give MSU a 7-6 lead in the second quarter. It was the longest play from scrimmage for the Red Hawks this season. He then capped an 91-yard drivein the third quarter to pull Montclair within 20-17 before hauling down a 14-yard grab to set up Vin Doffont's 43-yard field goal attempt that sent the game into overtime. On MSU's first possession, he had an 11-yard reception to create a short 3rd-and-1 that MSU capitalized on would score the decisive touchdown.
WR Matt Cruse, Fr., Bethany
Cruse's 14-yard touchdown reception with 59 seconds to play gave the Bison a 21-17 come-from-behind victory at Thomas More. He finished the game with eight receptions for 91 yards and two TDs. His other touchdown was a 45-yard scoring reception in the third quarter that tied the game at 14-14 as Bethany rallied from a 14-0 halftime deficit.
WR Chris Jackson, Sr., Howard Payne
Jackson (Dallas, Texas) totaled 167 yards on seven kickoff returns – including taking the opening kick back 89 yards for a touchdown to set the tone in a 47-45 conference road win over Louisiana College on Saturday. Jackson's total of yardage and returns are both ASC-highs this season. He also caught six passes for 151 yards and a touchdown to give him 318 all-purpose yards, also a conference best this season.
Defense
DL Ryan Kleppe, Sr., UW-Whitewater
Kleppe led the Warhawk defense that held Mary Hardin-Baylor's rushing attack to 49 yards on 37 carries. He finished with 10 tackles (five solo), 5.5 tackles for a loss for 39 yards and three sacks for 29 yards.
DL Drew Wethington, Sr., Washington U.
Wethington tied his career-high with 10 tackles, including four for loss, in the Bears' 10-7 overtime loss to Carnegie Mellon on Saturday.
DL Rob Hoyland, Jr., Illinois Wesleyan
Hoyland led Illinois Wesleyan's 44-0 shutout effort against North Park with six total tackles, including an 8-yard sack and another tackle for a 2-yard loss. Hoyland also scooped up a Viking fumble and ran it back 70 yards for a fourth quarter score.
LB Matt Montpetit, Sr., Cortland State
Led Cortland with nine tackles (six solo) in 26-14 win over visiting New Jersey. Had two of Cortland's eight sacks and helped the Red Dragons limit the Lions to 83 net yards of total offense (45 rushing, 38 passing). He finished with five tackles for a loss.
LB Jack Junker, Sr., Muskingum
Junker tallied a career-high 22-tackle performance (nine solo). He also recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, forced one fumble, recovered one fumble and had half a sack.
LB Cornell Hunt, Jr., Montclair State
Hunt had 14 total tackles in the win over No. 7 Rowan. Hunt had 10 solo stops and four assisted tackles. It was the fifth 10-plus tackle game for Hunt this season but his biggest play came in the overtime when he stepped in front of a Mike Orihel pass, picking off the attempt and sealing the game for the Red Hawks.
LB Quentin Kiah, Sr., Ithaca
Kiah helped the Bombers hold Springfield 32 points and 147 rushing yards below its season average. His sack, the second given up all year by the Pride, came on fourth down. He finished with 11 tackles (five solo).
DB Mike Ajadi, Jr., Montclair State
Ajadi blocked three kicks – two extra points and a punt in the Red Hawks 27-20 overtime victory over Rowan. He blocked the extra point on Rowan's first touchdown to keep the game at 6-0. He added his second blocked punt of the year in the second quarter. Ajadi then blocked the extra point as Rowan led 20-10 in the third quarter. That play proved to be key as Montclair would scored the final 10 points in regulation and then add the winning touchdown in the OT. He also had four tackles in the game (three solo).
DB Marcus Harris, So., Millsaps
Harris had another stellar game for the Millsaps defense this past weekend. He recorded two pass breakups, three tackles and three interceptions in a 35-18 win at Sewanee on Saturday.
DB R.J. Faldowski, Jr., Bethany
Faldowski recorded eight tackles (four solo) and two interceptions in Bethany's 21-17 win at Thomas More. His first interception thwarted a Saints drive inside BC territory in the first half and his second sealed the win after Bethany's winning touchdown in the final minute.
DB Tim March, Sr., Wheaton
March recorded six tackles (four solo) and a 64-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 34-0 win over Elmhurst.
Special teams
RET Neil Mrkvicka, Sr., UW-Whitewater
Mrkvicka's 94-yard kickoff return gave Whitewater its only score of the day in its 7-3 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
P Dominick Ancona, Jr., Hobart
Ancona averaged 46.5 yards per punt during Hobart's 21-14 win at Alfred. His eight punts included a career-long matching 58-yarder. Ancona pinned the Saxons inside their own 20 three times, had two more punts fair caught, and two more that were touchbacks.
K Vin Doffont, Sr., Montclair State
Doffont was perfect kicking on the day in the not-so-perfect conditions in MSU's 27-20 upset of No. 7 Rowan. Doffont connected from 41 and 43 yards out, the second field goal with nine seconds left into the wind to force the overtime. Doffont also connected on all three extra point attempts.
