Can't bring him down

There's no sliding by quarterbacks in Division III, right? Well, there certainly wasn't on Saturday for Benedictine quarterback Ryan Sample. He turned a would-be sack on third down into an incredible 48-yard gain, shedding six tackles on the way, helping the Eagles defeat Adrian 35-28. It's the D3football.com Play of the Week.

We solicit video of top plays from every Division III football program and this was our top clip.

Week 3 Play of the Week finalists

Here are some great plays which deserved extra mention:

Linfield's shotgun snap went wide right, Sam Riddle couldn't control the ball and Mary Hardin-Baylor defensive tackle Haston Adams rumbled the other way with it, 27 yards for a touchdown as UMHB defeated Linfield 66-27. This was the runaway fan voting favorite and a strong second in the overall voting -- good job, UMHB fans!

Taylor Loudan hauls in a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone, giving Christopher Newport the lead for good in a win vs. Wesley. It was the first of three unanswered TDs for the Captains.

Matt McFadden walks the tightrope and sprints down the sideline for a 53-yard touchdown, giving Gettysburg a 28-27 lead in a game Juniata would go on to win 41-35.

Thomas More never loses focus on this double-tipped pass that goes from incompletion on third-and-6 to 30-yard gain.
