After Saturday's game against Rose-Hulman, Nick Johnson will be moving into a new role at Earlham, allowing him to spend more time taking care of his family. His wife, Melissa, former women's basketball coach at Earlham, has been fighting a genetic pancreatic condition.
Melissa Johnson has spent more than three years battling pancreatitis and complications from surgeries. In the midst of all this her husband, Nick, took over as head coach at Earlham. And his perseverance has been an inspiration for his family, his players and coaches around the HCAC.
Earlham will have a new head football coach next fall as Gerry Keesling submitted his resignation. The Quakers' move to the HCAC hasn't had the effect the school's president hoped.
