Whittier's Williams Named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2021)  Senior wideout Hakim Williams Jr. (Covina, Calif. / Covina) of the Whittier College football team has been named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

Williams earned the achievement by leading all SCIAC receivers for the week with six catches for 121 yards and a touchdown on the road at Lewis & Clark College on Saturday afternoon. Williams' touchdown came on a 72-yard grab from sophomore quarterback Sebastian Pimentel (Whittier, Calif. / California). The senior now leads the Poets with 194 receiving yards on 14 catches through three games, while being responsible for three of Whittier's four touchdowns on the young season.

Williams and the Poets will be seeking their first win of the season when they travel to Claremont, Calif. to rematch Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday, Sept. 25.
