Pacific University junior quarterback Kenyon Harris completed 33 of 39 passes for 403 yards and three touchdowns en route to a 56-28 homecoming win over Lewis & Clark on Saturday afternoon. In addition to completing 84.6% of his passes – second best effort in program history – Harris used his feet to rush nine times for 41 yards and two touchdowns. He is the fifth quarterback in Pacific history to throw for over 400 yards in a game, the first since Campbell Summerfield threw for 421 yards against Whitworth on October 29, 2016.
It was not a one-man show for Harris and the Boxers, who connected with Ty Hargis and Kyle Kern, who each went over 100 yards receiving in the win. Hargis caught 13 passes – his fourth double-digit reception game of his career – for 135 yards – his third 100+ yard receiving game of his career to go along with a touchdown. Kern picked up his first 100 yard receiving game, catching eight passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Not all the offense came through the air for the Boxers as junior Josh Harris went over the 100 yard mark for the fourth time on the season, grinding out 146 yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns. The three touchdowns by Josh Harris tie a Pacific single-game record. He joins the likes of Brandon Boyd (2016) and Warner Shaw (2014), who also found the end zone on three occasions through the ground.
The Boxers started the game, scoring touchdowns on five of its first eight drives. As the offense was putting points on the scoreboard, the Boxer defense was clamping down on the visitors from Portland. Pacific limited Lewis & Clark to 63 yards on 28 plays and just two first downs in the opening half, building a 35-0 halftime lead.
For the game, Gage Quinabo-Reis had a team-high eight tackles in the win. The Pioneers' Tawayne Malone was credited with 17 tackles – 14 solo efforts in the loss.
Pacific closed out the game, scoring a touchdown on three of its final four drives en route to the win. Lewis & Clark managed to get on the scoreboard, scoring a touchdown on four of its six final drives. Pioneers' quarterback Caden Voges completed 14 of 36 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. The Boxer defense held Lewis & Clark to 115 yards on the ground – 32 of it on a rush by Evan Powers. With all the scoring from Pacific, the Pioneers' Huero Lopez returned four kicks for 110 yards.
