Panthers Dominate Rhodes in 46-7 Win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Birmingham-Southern football came fresh and ready to play after its bye week.  BSC (3-2) dominated Rhodes College Saturday, winning 46-7 and improving to 2-1 against Southern Athletic Association opponents.  The Panthers defense held Rhodes scoreless until 20 seconds left in the game.

Robert Shufford (McKenzie, Ala./McKenzie HS) rushed for his fourth consecutive 100+ yard game, averaging 9.5 yards per carry and a touchdown en route to game-high 133 yards on the ground.  Trevor Oakes (Somerville, Ala./Hartselle HS) completed 10-of-15 passes for a game-high 146 passing yards with three touchdowns.  He spread the wealth, connecting with eight receivers in the win.  Wells Smith (Jackson, Tenn./University of Jackson) led the wide-outs with 56 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Court Coley (Gadsden, Ala./Westbrook Christian School) led with a team-high nine tackles, six solo, earning one tackle for a loss of two yards.  Garrett Stevens (Social Circle, Ga./Eastside HS) finished right behind him with seven tackles of his own, respectively.  Four of his were solo, and one was for a loss of a yard.  On special teams, the Panthers kickers were perfect.  Hayden Terral (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope HS) went 3-for-3 in extra points and sent a 28 yard field goal through the uprights.  Aidan Hood (Mountain Brook, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) was 2-for-2 in extra points.

The Panthers return to the Hilltop next weekend for Homecoming.  They will be facing seventh ranked Berry College at 6 p.m.  Check out all the homecoming activities on the athletics website.
