Today's Contest: 
Today is the home opener and third Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it host OAC leading Heidelberg University on the 42nd Lee Tressel Shrine Classic.  BW dropped its first game of the season as it fell to No. 2 nationally-ranked the University of Mount Union by a score of 45-7.  Heidelberg defeated Capital by a score of 55-6.  

The Series: 
BW has faced Heidelberg more times on the gridiron than any other opponent as the teams have played 72 games.  The Yellow Jackets hold an 48-24 all-time series lead. The series began in 1897 when BW won by a final score of 10-0 in Berea.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert: 
Hilvert is in his third season at BW and has a record of  21-12 and OAC slate of 13-7. He is 83-26 in his 11th overall season and is 1-1 against Heidelberg. 


Heidelberg Head Coach Scott Donaldson: 
Donaldson is in his fourth season at Heidelberg and has an overall record of 21-12  and an OAC mark of 18-11.  He is 1-2 vs. Baldwin Wallace.

Last Game vs. HEID -- Sept. 22, 2019:
BW scored 34 points on 256 yards passing, 161  yards rushing and 417  total yards.  Heidelberg scored 10 points on 168 yards passing, 131 yards rushing and 299 total yards. 

Scouting the Yellow Jackets: 
In week three of the season, BW scored seven points on 215 yards passing and 50 yards rushing for a 365 yards of total offense. Mount Union scored 45 points on 272 yards passing and 182 yards rushing for 454 yards of total offense.

BW Leaders: 
Offensively, senior quarterback A.J. Miller (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs Charter) has completed 55 of 96 passes for 719 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.  Sophomore All-OAC running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) leads the ground attack with 247 yards on 50 carries with three touchdowns. Murray has also caught seven passes for 51 yards. Junior wideout Iyan Mitchell (Tampa, Fla./Robinson) leads the receiving corps with 12 catches for 198 yards.  Defensively, senior linebacker Josh Liberati (Lisbon/David Anderson) leads the team and is seventh in the OAC with 24 tackles, including a two for a loss.   Senior defensive back Jordyn Johnson (Akron/North) is second on the squad with 18 stops and leads the team and is tied for third in OAC with four pass breakups.

Scouting the Student Princes:
In week three of the season, Heidelberg scored 55 points on 382 yards rushing, 300 yards passing and 682 total yards. Capital scored six points on 221 yards passing, 30 yards passing and 251 total yards. 

Heidelberg Leaders: 
Offensively, senior quarterback Jimmy Gephart has completed 49 of 76 passes for 805 yards with an OAC leading 11 touchdowns and one interception.  Junior running back Branden Short leads the ground attack and is second in the OAC with 391 yards on 73 carries with two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Keivon Belcher leads the receiving corps with 13 receptions for 196 yards with five touchdowns, which is tied for third in the league.   Defensively, senior linebacker Tyler Matuszak leads the team and is  tied for 11th in OAC with 21 tackles.

At the Top:
BW and Heidelberg rank either one or two in the OAC in caused turnovers and sacks.  The Yellow Jackets lead the league in fumble recoveries with five, are  second in interceptions and second in quarterback sacks.  The Student Princes lead the conference in interceptions with six and are tied for third in quarterback sacks with eight.  Heidelberg also leads the league in points scored with 147, total offense with 1,744 and yards rushing with 841.

At the conclusion of the game, a student-athlete from both BW and Heidelberg will be selected as the 42nd Lee Tressel Shrine Classic Player of the Game for his team.
