BEVERLY, MA – John Kenney produced two long touchdown runs – 71 yards and 88 yards – to lead host Endicott College to a 28-3 Division III football victory over the University of Rochester at Hempstead Stadium on the Endicott campus Saturday afternoon.

Dylan Bonfilio passed for one touchdown for Endicott (2-0) and ran for another. He opened the scoring with a one-yard TD run to cap a 13-play, 79-yard drive in the first period. Nick DiCairano made the PAT. Midway through the second quarter, he boosted the Endicott lead to 21-0 with a 13-yard TD pass to Will Genaway. Kenney scored on the 71-yard run late in the first, then broke the 88-yarder with 5:27 remaining. That put to rest all chances of a late game Rochester rally. The Yellowjackets are 0-2.

Rochester QBs Steven Genova and Ryan Eamer combined for 303 yards passing, hitting 32 of 45 throws with two interceptions. Genova was sacked three times. Genova completed 23 of 34 passes for 210 yards. Eamer copmpleted nine of 11 passes for 93 yards with one pick.

Eamer's percentage of 81.8% breaks a seven-year-old Rochester record for single-game completuion percentage. Dean Kennedy completed 19 of 24 throws (79.2%) at the Merchant Marine Academy in 2012.

Seven men caught passes for UR. Aaron Whitley hauled in 12 balls for 139 yards. His 12 catches are one shy of tying the single-game record of 13. It was set originally in 1986 at St. Lawrence by Ben Rizzo. It was tied by Michael LeFlore in 1995 against Chicago, then tied again in 2006 by J.J. Vanderstyne against Rensselaer.

Defensively, Devin Woodyard had six tackles, including two sacks (17 yards) and 1.5 more tackles for loss (six yards). Rochester produced 13 tackles for loss in the game.

Following the first Kenney TD run (14-0, 2:49 left in the first), Genova guided the Yellowjackets on a 12-play, 64-yard drive down to the EC 20, but Dawson Klinger's field goal attempt from 37 yards was wide right. Genova hit seven straight passes in the drive that straddled the first two quarters. Rochester marched to the EC 17 but a pass interference penalty pushed the ball back to the 32 (3rd-and-20).  Genova completed a 12-yard pass to Tyler Tanen just before the field goal attempt.

The Yellowjacket defense did force six three-and-outs in 12 possessions. Fueled by the Kenney sprints, Endicott rushed for 213 yards and passed for 119 more (332 total). Rochester finished with 343 yards – 303 in the air, 40 on the ground.

Klinger's 24-yard field goal late in the third period was his third field goal this season and the ninth of his career. He is tied with Andrew Haber (2013-16) and T.J. Jasonis (1981-83) with nine apiece.

Rochester will host Alfred State College on Saturday at 12 pm. It will be Football Homecoming on the River Campus.
