LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins junior cornerback Macauley Kilbane has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping the sixth-ranked Blue Jays top 24th-ranked Randolph-Macon, 17-12, in the season opener last Thursday.  This is the first time in Kilbane's career that he has been honored as the CC Defensive Player of the Week.

Kilbane posted five tackles, four pass breakups and one interception in the season-opening victory at Randolph-Macon.  His interception in Johns Hopkins territory in the final 90 seconds of the fourth quarter sealed the victory, while one of his pass breakups also came in Blue Jay territory on the Yellow Jackets' next-to-last possession.  In all, the Johns Hopkins defense came up with four, fourth-quarter interceptions.

Kilbane's five tackles in the victory push his career total to 99, while he also now counts five interceptions and 16 pass breakups to his credit.  He has played in all 26 games in his career and has started 24 straight since moving into the starting lineup in the third game of his freshman year.

Johns Hopkins (1-0), which is ranked seventh in this week's D3football.com Poll, welcomes Susquehanna (1-0) to Homewood Field on Saturday, September 14 (1 pm) for the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
