Seahawks knock off Bison

Freshman Hunter Ferreira caught a 26-yard touchdown pass in Nichols College's 47-14 loss at Salve Regina University Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) football action at Toppa Field.

Senior McCoy Scott led the defense with 10 tackles (nine solo) and 2.0 tackles for loss while junior Sean McGuigan racked up eight tackles. Offensively, junior Michael Pina completed 9-of-23 pass attempts for 113 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also led the Bison with 27 yards on the ground.
 
The Bison fell behind 14-0 before Pina capped a six-play, 50-yard drive with a scoring strike to Ferreira. The Seahawks responded with 33 unanswered points and finished the game with 509 yards of total offense.
 
Three things you need to know...
-Sophomore Chauncey Lowman threw his first touchdown in a Nichols Bison uniform in the fourth quarter to freshman Kiondae Wilson. It was the first TD reception of Wilson's career
-The Seahawks picked up 313 yards on the ground, led by Joey Mauriello with 141 yards. Quarterback Tyler McGovern threw three touchdown passes (19, 10, 7).
-Ten different student-athletes had a reception for the Bison, including senior Shane Crayton (two), sophomore Amari Smith (two), sophomore Damian Dontfraid (one), sophomore Terrance Harris (one), and graduate student Vincent Iaquinta (one).
