UTICA, N.Y. –  The No.3 College at Brockport football team secured a hard-fought victory at Utica College, 22-6. This win moves Brockport to 8-0 overall while, and keeps the Green and Gold undefeated in Empire 8 play, while Utica drops to 4-4 and 2-3 within the league.

The first quarter was a defensive battle, neither team giving an inch. Both offenses looked to put their team on the board first but it would be Brockport's defense who would strike, securing a safety on Utica's first drive, gaining the two-point advantage.

At the start of the second quarter, the Golden Eagles offense would show their skill by procuring points of their own. Joe Germinerio rifled a 25-yard pass to Joseph Ortiz who pulled it in for his sixth score of the year and put Brockport in the lead by nine. Utica answered with a touchdown of their own to close the half, although Allassane Coulibaly would block the extra point attempt, to keep the Green and Gold ahead by three.

Brockport picked up the pace in the second half, adding an additional two touchdowns the first from a one-yard quarterback sneak by Germinerio after a strong drive down the field and the second, again on the ground, this time a two-yard rush by Zach Samborski. The Golden Eagle defense then displayed their talent once again as Rashad Baker came up with an interception to put the ball in the offense's hands once more. With the rain continuing to pour, Brockport kept the ball on the ground to run out the clock in the last quarter of play.

Brockport's defense was the spearhead of the game plan coming up with three sacks, five tackles for loss and an interception. They continued to prove their dominance over another Empire 8 rival keeping Utica to a meager negative 62 rushing-yards. Matt Szymanski led with five total tackles including a tackle for a loss and a sack. On the offensive side of the ball, Germinerio finished 18-for-29 for 215-yards, four of the passes completed to Alex Benson for 71-yards.  Samborski rushed 33 times for 148-yards and a touchdown. The Green and Gold would finish the day with 537-yards of total offense.

Brockport will return to action on Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. for their Senior Day matchup against SUNY Cortland. The Golden Eagles will honor their 24 seniors in a ceremony held prior to the contest.
