University of Dubuque Finishes with Over 600 Yards of Offense in Homecoming Victory

BOX SCORE vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead before finishing the homecoming game with a 54-35 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday on Chalmers Field. The Spartans compiled 242 yards on the ground and 367 yards through the air (609 total offensive yards).

The running back duo of Dwayne Allen Jr. (133 yards) and Maurece Herrion (75 yards) would combine for over 200 ground pounding yards of offense. Allen Jr. would break away for a score, this time on a 79 yard in the middle of the third quarter. Six different Spartans would score on Saturday with seven running backs and six receivers seeing action.

Quarterback Sean Duffy continues to impress and would complete 24 of 31 throwing attempts to end with 367 yards and six touchdowns. He would connect with Emanuel Jenkins eight times for 94 yards and a touchdown, Kody Reimer seven catches for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns, A.J. Hunter six catches for 126 yards and two TD's, Adam Rothas (1-11 yards and a TD), Dwayne Allen (1-6 yards), and Sam Morton (1-6 yards).

In special teams, Tyler Sheffield kicked off nine times for 556 yards with five touchbacks, including one for 80 yards, for an average of 61.8 yards. Defensively UD was led by Chad Marsh who had seven tackles with one for a loss. Freddy Walton collected five tackles, two tackles for losses of eight yards, one sack for a loss of six yards, and an interception. Blaze Barista intrercepted one pass and returned it for 20 yards.

The Spartans 6-2 overall, 5-1 in A-R-C will travel to Indianola, Iowa next week to face the Simpson College Storm who enter with a 6-2 overall and a 5-1 A-R-C record. The two teams are in a tied with Wartburg College for the lead in the American Rivers Conference with just two weeks remaining in the regular season.
