Recap: Cortland scored on its first four drives and registered 608 yards of offense while holding Hartwick to 145 in a 56-3 win for the Red Dragons on Saturday at Wright Stadium. The visitors would score a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and another three in the second for a 35-0 lead at halftime. The Hawks kicked off to start the second half but immediately got the ball back following Stephen Junjulas' (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) interception and 31-yard return to the Red Dragon nine yard-line. After three plays, Kevin Roberts (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) connected on a 27-yard field goal to put the Hawks on the scoreboard. Cortland answered right back with a touchdown. The Red Dragons added another later in the quarter and closed out the scoring early in the fourth. Grant Harman (Liberty, NY/Liberty) connected on 10 passes for 72 yards while Bryce Macina (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) had four completions for 52 yards for 'Wick. Jack Steinman (North Haven, CT/North Haven) was the Hawks' top receiver on the day with four catches for 43 yards. Corey Sachs (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) rushed for 26 yards on five carries and he had two catches for another three yards. Cameron Conrad (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) led all players with nine tackles for Hartwick. Dylan Williams-Bachman (Homer, NY/Homer) had five tackles with an interception and Jermain Veras (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) also had five hits. Cortland was led by quarterback Brett Segala who threw for 326 yards and four scores on 22 completions. Jake Smith made seven catches for 176 yards and one score.
