Josiah Sears

Benedictine head football coach Josiah Sears has stepped down following two seasons at the helm to join IMG Academy as offensive coordinator.

IMG Academy has won 39 consecutive games dating back to 2014 and was the consensus second-ranked team in the nation last season.

Sears arrived at Benedictine in January of 2016 with a decorated offensive resume and began to mold a fast-paced program through spring practice, leading up to the 2016 campaign. Benedictine posted a record of 13-7 over the past two seasons with a 7-3 mark this fall, improving by a game from his first year at the helm. The 2017 team ended the year with four straight wins and placed second in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Under the tutelage of Sears, Benedictine quarterback Ryan Sample rewrote the record book and now holds nearly every single season, game and career mark. The offense as a whole surged with the team averaging 33.2 points per game in 2017 and 36.8 in 2016. Benedictine lit the scoreboard with 67 points in a game during the 2016 season, the highest single-game total in the modern era. The team averaged over 440 yards of offense each season and put up over 450 yards in five contests in 2017.

Three players received first team all-conference honors this season with six second team choices and four honorable all-mention awards.

Sears played Division I football at Indiana as a running back and was a captain on the program's first bowl team in 14 years during his final season.

A national search for the next head football coach at Benedictine is underway.
