Buena Vista athletic director Jack Denholm has announced the hiring of Grant Mollring as the school's new head football coach. Mollring replaces Jay Anderson, who resigned at the end of the Beavers' season. BVU was 3-7.

Mollring has been the offensive coordinator at Hastings College in Hastings, Neb., for the past three seasons and before that was the offensive coordinator for four seasons at Doane College in Crete, Neb. He served as both a recruiting coordinator and quarterbacks coach at both institutions.

"We are very excited to bring Grant Mollring on board as the new football coach at Buena Vista University," says Denholm. "The search committee selected Grant because he will be a good fit for the Beaver football program and brings a lot of enthusiasm. We are looking forward to working with him, as he has strong leadership skills and is a great recruiter."

During his seven seasons as an offensive coordinator, Mollring's offenses consistently averaged more than 400 yards of total offense and 30 points per game. In 2011, he coached the Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year at quarterback and has coached multiple all-conference and all-American student-athletes throughout his career.

Mollring began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska-Kearney from 2007-08. He then became the team's wide receiver coach and coached four all-conference selections in just two years.

"I'm truly blessed and honored to have been given this opportunity to be the head football coach at Buena Vista," says Mollring. "I'm excited to move to Storm Lake, get on campus and get things rolling. I have a lot of respect for the program and the coaches who led it before me.  I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead of moving the program forward and building that winning culture. I'm very appreciative of the support I've received from the administration, and in particular Jack Denholm."

Mollring earned his bachelor's degree in world civilizations and middle school education in 2003 from UNK and went on to serve three years as a teacher and coach at Eustis-Farnam High School, in Eustis, Neb., before moving onto the college ranks. He later received his master's degree in physical education pedagogy from UNK in 2010.

"We are very pleased that Coach Mollring will be our new head football coach," says BVU president Fred Moore. "He brings a tremendous knowledge of the game and a demonstrated track record of success to his new responsibilities."

Mollring and his wife, Mandi, have one son, Turner.
