On Nov. 16, Jay Anderson resigned as the head football coach at Buena Vista. Anderson had been part of the football program for the last 20-plus seasons in a variety of roles including graduate assistant, assistant coach and head coach.

The Beavers were 3-7 this past season, 3-5 in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Anderson was 42-68 in 11 season as a head coach.

"Coach Anderson has led our football program with dignity and honor. The young men who have played for him regularly speak of his mentoring, guidance and support. He has prepared his players well for the rest of their lives and I thank him for his contributions to BVU," said president Fred Moore.

The university will immediately begin a search for his successor. As with all coaching positions, key candidate characteristics that will be sought are competitiveness, sportsmanship, academic performance and citizenship off the field.
