More news about: Albion

ALMA, Mich. – Albion College rolled up 388 yards Saturday night, just 39 fewer than Alma College, but four turnovers proved to be too much to overcome in a 37-14 setback in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association football action.

Alma cashed two of the turnovers in for touchdowns. Dylan Zaborowski ran in from eight yards out after a Briton fumble in the first quarter, and he threw an eight yard pass to Essa Kellah after the Britons were interception in the third.

Zaborowski accounted for all four Alma touchdowns, running for two and passing for two. He generated 300 yards (178 passing and 122 rushing).

Albion took the second half kickoff and went 53 yards in eight plays for its first score. Tyler Crowell hooked up with Tyler Sykes for a 29-yard gain moving the ball to the Alma 1. El'Verson Mitchell went the final yard for his first touchdown at the collegiate level.

Albion also scored in the fourth quarter as Sam Blanzy threw a 15-yard strike to Kyle Winchell.

Blanzy and Crowell combined to complete 32 passes for 325 yards. Sykes hauled in 14 passes for 109 yards and Brian Blanzy averaged 34 ½ yards on two receptions.

Anthony Waite and Jordan Stinchcomb were credited with 12 and 11 tackles, respectively, to lead the defense.

Albion will take a break from MIAA play next Saturday when it plays host to Rockford University for a 1 o'clock game on the Schmidt-Fraser Field inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
