ALBION, Mich. – Albion College had two possessions to forge a tie in the third quarter, but the offense was unable to generate a first down as Olivet College went on to send the Britons to a 31-14 loss in front of a large Homecoming crowd at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

Joe Wright's sack forced Olivet to go three and out on its first possession of the day. Albion took over at its 8-yard line after a 61-yard punt by Ryan Anderson, and on third down, Thomas Gary Holmes picked off a pass and returned it 11 yards for Olivet's first score.

An interception ended Albion's second possession, and Olivet cashed in with a seven play scoring drive. Braden Black hooked up with Mitchell Bailey for a 36-yard strike as the Comets led 13-0 with nine minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Chad Hamilton threw a pair of touchdown passes to Tyler Sykes (14 and 13 yards) as Albion pulled close, 21-14, at halftime.

Jerome Washington scored from nine yards out and Gunnar Aper kicked a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter to complete the Olivet's scoring for the day.

The Briton defense performed admirably, allowing 343 yards. Linebacker Jose Rodriguez racked up 13 tackles, including 2 ½ for loss. Anthony Waite collected nine tackles, including one for loss.

Albion finished with 220 yards of offense. Hamilton threw for 212 yards, with Sean Koski averaging nearly 11 yards per catch and Sykes hauling in 11 passes for 72 yards.
