DANVILLE, Ky. - Junior running back Dayton Winn rushed for 283 yards and five touchdowns, leading the way for Hendrix College's 51-48 comeback win at Centre College on Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels (3-2, 1-2), the defending Southern Athletic Association champions, struck on their first possession on a six-yard run by quarterback Heath Haden. The Warriors (3-1, 2-0) answered with 51-yard score from Winn, his first of the day. The resulting extra point attempt was blocked, putting Hendrix behind 7-6.

Hendrix also had touchdowns on a 43-yard pass from junior Seth Peters to sophomore Ben Luedtke and a six-yard run from Winn in the first quarter and led 20-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Centre blocked a Hendrix punt and Lloyd Hall returned it three yards to the endzone at the start of the second to go up 21-20. Warrior kicker Steve Crenshaw made a 24-yard field goal at the end of the half to make the game 31-30 in Centre's favor at the break.

The Warriors took the lead three minutes into the third on an 18-yard pass from Peters to sophomore Nate Hodapp, but a Coulter one-yard run and a 20-yard pass from Haden to Braden Urevick put Centre back in control 45-37 with 8:20 left in the third. Winn cut the deficit to one point with another score from one yard out at the 3:27 mark of the third. Ward hit a 34-yarder at the end of the quarter to put Centre up 48-44.

The final points of the game came on a two-yard rush by Winn with 10:36 remaining.
