Buena Vista senior quarterback Bobby Brown continued to rewrite the BVU record book on Saturday afternoon, as he helped guide the Beaver football team to a 48-29 Iowa Conference road victory at Loras College (1-4, 0-2 IIAC).

Brown nearly had his name in the record books by halftime, as he went 22-for-37 with 339 yards and four touchdowns over the first 30 minutes as BVU built a 28-13 halftime lead.

The fourth-year starter went on to complete 30-of-47 pass attempts for a school-record 432 yards and five touchdowns.  His 30 completions matched Eric Wiebers' mark set in 2002 against the University of Dubuque, while his total yards surpassed Wiebers' previous mark by one yard.  His five touchdowns give him 49 in his career which matches Wiebers' father, Rollie Wiebers' all-time mark.

Brown helped get the scoring started by throwing a 17-yard touchdown strike to fellow senior Gunner Gilland, who had a record-breaking performance himself just a week ago.  The Duhakws followed with a quick touchdown of their own, but fumbled the two-point attempt, keeping the Beavers in front, 7-6, just minutes into the contest.

Junior Ben Seitz hauled in a 61-yard touchdown pass from Brown four minutes later to make it 14-7 before Brown connected with senior Adam Cave for his third touchdown pass of the quarter.

Loras then tossed a 28-yard touchdown pass two minutes into the second quarter to make it a 21-13 contest before Gilland and Brown hooked up for the second time - this one from seven yards out, to give BVU a 28-13 halftime lead.

Each team kicked a field goal in the third quarter to keep it a 15-point Beaver lead before senior running back Dylan Barrett made it a 38-16 contest with a 37-yard touchdown run midway through the quarter.

That's the way things stood until Gilland and Brown hooked up for the third time - this one from 11 yards out to push the Beaver advantage to 45-16.  Stolen added the final three points for BVU with 5:07 left, capping a 12-play, 27-yard drive that took more than seven minutes off the clock.

The Duhawks added a pair of late touchdowns for the game's final scores.

For the second time in three games, the Beavers surpass 600 yards of total offense as they chalked up 607 against the Duhawks.  BVU ran 90 total plays in the game, compared to only 69 by Loras and had the ball more than twice as long.

Gilland and Seitz each hauled in 10 catches on the day with Gilland leading the way with 152 yards.  Barrett was also strong on the ground, chalking up 137 yards on 25 carries.

Defensively, Connor Downs led the way with six total tackles.  Justin Kahl was next with five, to go along with a pass break up and a forced fumble.  Austin Gibbs and Brady Billerbeck each tallied one interception in the contest as BVU has five INT's over the last two games.

The win gives BVU its first 2-0 start to conference play since 2008 when it began 4-0.

Overall, the Beavers improve to 3-2 and sit tied atop the Iowa Conference standings with Wartburg College.  The two are the last unbeaten teams in conference play following Luther's loss to Central.

The Beavers and Norse will meet next Saturday inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium in a 1:00pm contest.  The game will also be Beaver Youth Day where all kids thru eighth grade will be admitted free with a paid adult.
