More news about: Rochester

With Myles Allen rushing for 113 yards and two touchdowns and the defense producing the opening score, the University of Rochester defeated Gallaudet University, 30-2, in Division III college football at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

Allen broke a 33-yard scoring run midway through the third quarter and bulled in from the one with 81 seconds left in the period as Rochester extended a 9-2 halftime lead to 23-2 after three periods.

Rochester totaled 349 yards in offense, 180 on the ground and 169 through the air. Gallaudet compiled 168 yards in offense, 132 in the ground – B.J. Flores led the way with 41 yards on 15 carries, and 36 passing.

The Yellowjackets are 2-0 for the first time since 2000 when they started 4-0. Gallaudet is 0-2.

Gallaudet earned a safety for a 2-0 lead with 5:35 left in the first. Eric Setzer's 44-yard punt pinned Rochester at its own five. Allen was stopped at the line on first down. On second down, GU's Devante Walters got to quarterback Jordan Golinowski five yards deep in the end zone. As he was going down Golinowski tried to throw the ball away. He was penalized for intentional grounding and the safety awarded.

The Rochester defense earned the first touchdown of the game. With Gallaudet facing third and 13 from its own three, Flores tried to run right. Rochester's James Barrett jarred the ball loose and Colin Woods recovered it in the end zone for a 6-2 lead. Andrew Haber's PAT was wide right.

On the next possession, Golinowski drove Rochester from its own 40 down to the two where Haber kicked a 20-yard field goal on the last play of the half for the 9-2 lead.

In the third quarter, Rochester drove 60 yards in six plays, highlighted by Allen's 33 yard run off left tackle for a score and a 16-2 lead with 8:26 left. On their next possession, the Yellowjackets went 72 yards in 10 plays to set up Allen's one-yard dive through the left side with 3:51 left.

The final TD was a three-yard scoring run by Daniel Bronson midway through the fourth quarter.

Golinowski finished 18 of 26 for 169 yards. He was sacked twice, but not intercepted. Bronson missed his only pass, but did gain 39 yards on six carries.

Defensively, Matt Mender had eight tackles and half a sack for Rochester (shared with Barrett). Rochester had four sacks and three other tackles for loss.

Gallaudet's leading tackler was Jaris Alleyne with nine total stops (three solo). Walters' sack that produced the safety was one of two sacks by the Bison. Toby Canterbury and Gregg McConville had eight tackles each.
