More news about: Oberlin

Westlake, Ohio – Oberlin College sophomore quarterback Lucas Poggiali was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Poggiali guided the Yeomen to a, 19-2, season-opening win over Case Western Reserve on Sunday afternoon at Savage Stadium.

Poggiali was very efficient with his throws, finishing 11-of-17 for 100 yards and a touchdown. A dual-threat QB, he also ran for 78 yards and a score on 12 rushes.

His management of the offense allowed Oberlin to nearly double-up Case in time of possession with the Yeomen controlling the ball for 39:16 compared to just 20:44 for the Spartans.

Poggiali led the Yeomen to nine first downs in the game. Oberlin finished 6-of-14 on third down and was 1-of-1 on fourth down.

He and the rest of the Yeomen take to the road this weekend to battle The College of Wooster on Saturday. Opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
