Blueboys fall in finale, 49-14

Illinois College committed six turnovers and Carroll University's Lamont Williams ran for six touchdowns as the Blueboys lost their regular-season finale on Saturday, 49-14, at England Stadium in Jacksonville.

Williams ran for 304 yards and scored on runs of 2, 3, 1, 2, 10 and 2 yards. He scored the first four touchdowns of the game to give Carroll a 28-0 lead.

Michael Bates threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Wallace with just four seconds left before halftime, and Bates scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to open the second half to make it 28-14, but Williams followed up with his fifth and sixth touchdowns of the day, respectively, to put the game out of reach.

Carroll's Neal Layng scored on a 28-yard interception return to bring the game to its final score.

Bates was 19-of-40 passing with 238 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. Cecil Brimmage ran for 106 yards on 19 carries. Colin Duling caught five passes for 52 yards, Kevin Fuller caught four passes for 54 yards and Branden Downing made three catches for 56 yards.

Joe Gaines tallied 18 tackles to lead the IC defense. Zack Hanlon and Tim Denney added 11 and 12 tackles, respectively.

IC finished the season at 8-2 overall and 7-2 in Midwest Conference play.

Saturday was Senior Day at Illinois College. Mitch Whightsil, Keith Hunter II, Denney, Gaines, Ross Barker, Colby Highlander, Brian Kowalski, Seth Duncan, Duling, Branden Downing, Robert Lopez, Aaron Gyrion, Willie Barefield III, Dylan DeFauw, Jake Klingele, Zach Weitzel, Dustin Secrist, Joshua Zinck, Daniel Rhea, Zach Meyer, Travis Gullett, Justin O'Brien, Jacob Cumming, Larry Sciortino, Jason McGovern and Wallace were honored before the game.
