UW-Platteville victorious over UW-River Falls.

The No. 20 University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers (5-2, 2-2 WIAC) routed WIAC foe UW-River Falls (1-6, 1-3 WIAC) 31-0. The game was Homecoming for the Pioneers, and the win marked the third year in a row UW-Platteville has won its Homecoming game.

 

Pioneers sophomore quarterback Bryce Corrigan engineered another offensive onslaught, going 36-52 for 377 yards and four touchdowns.

 

Two of those touchdowns went to sophomore receiver Ryley Bailey, giving him eight on the season. Bailey finished the day with seven catches for 55 yards.

 

The Pioneers started the day's scoring on their second drive with a 16 play, 94 yard drive, capped off by a seven yard touchdown pass from Corrigan to Bryan Whitehead.

 

UW-Platteville scored again in the first quarter when Corrigan found sophomore Trevor Whitehead over the middle for a 28-yard touchdown. Trevor Whitehead ended with nine catches for 128 yards.

 

A field goal by junior Zach Litchfield with 1:35 remaining in the second quarter gave the Pioneers a 17-0 lead at half.

 

Corrigan led another touchdown drive in the third quarter, finding Bailey in the back of the endzone for a three-yard score.

 

Bailey snagged his other touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a six-yard toss from Corrigan, extending the home teams lead to 31-0.

 

The Pioneer defense shut down the Falcons offense, allowing just 157 yards of total offense and only nine first downs. The shutout is the Pioneers first in the year.

 

The Pioneers play next Oct. 27 at UW-Eau Claire.
