#2 Mount Union Rolls Past Wilmington, 66-7

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- No. 2 ranked Mount Union rolled up 671 yards of total offense as the Purple Raiders posted a 66-7 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Wilmington Saturday night at Mount Union Stadium.

The Raiders had 411 yards on the ground and 260 in the air as the 671 total yards were most in a regular season game since nearly four years to the day as Mount Union had 690 yards in a 62-0 home win against Muskingum (9/22/07).

Mount Union (3-0, 2-0 OAC) extended its regular season win streak to 56 games and home field winning streak to 52 games.  Wilmington (0-3, 0-2 OAC) lost its 19th straight game dating back to the 2009 season.

Junior running back Jeremy Murray (Martins Ferry/Martins Ferry) capped two scoring drives in the first quarter with rushing touchdowns from two and 26 yards as Mount Union took a 14-0 lead.

It was the start of another big day for Murray who tacked on a 61-yard touchdown run in a 35-point Mount Union second quarter that saw the Raiders run out to a 49-0 halftime lead.

Murray, who only played in the first half, finished with 167 yards rushing on 12 carries.  It was his third-straight 100-yard performance and he now has 546 yards and eight touchdowns rushing on the season.

Fellow junior running back Blair Skilliter (Curtice/Genoa) also rushed for two touchdowns.

Junior quarterbacks Neal Seaman (Louisville/Louisville) and Matt Piloto (Rotonda West, Fla./Lemon Bay) each tossed a touchdown pass and Piloto also scrambled four yards for another touchdown as both only played in the first half.

Senior wide receiver Brandon Brown (Merrillville, Ind./Cincinnati Harmony Prep) caught a touchdown pass and had a team-high four receptions for 47 yards.

Junior reciever Jasper Collins (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) also caught a touchdown pass as he had three catches for 45 yards.

The Mount Union defense held Wilmington to 16 yards rushing and 115 total yards as senior linebacker Jorge Carbonell (Miami, Fla./Archbishop Carroll) had a team-best six tackles.

The Raiders also got interceptions from seniors Tyler Alwardt (Macomb, Mich./Chippewa Valley) and Jordan Pirtle (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown) while junior Nick Driskill (Wabash, Ind./Southwood) had a 59-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Wilmington avoided the shutout late in the third quarter as Malcolm Heard caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Arehart.

Mount Union takes its first road trip of the season next week playing an OAC game at Ohio Northern.  Kickoff is 1:30 pm next Saturday in Ada.
