No. 1: The Miracle in Mississippi

Top 10 finishes of the D3football.com era

<- No. 2

Honorable mention ->

We all know this one, and if you are new to Division III you've probably seen it anyway, perhaps not realizing it was from Division III.

When Millsaps' news release said the following, it was not an exaggeration: "In perhaps the greatest single play finish in college football history at any level, 19th-ranked Trinity University converted a 60-yard play for the winning score as time expired with 15 laterals to stun 24th-ranked Millsaps on Homecoming in front of a near capacity crowd."

The play was ESPN's Play of the Month for October 2007 and the Pontiac Game-Changing Performance of the Year.

The key moment may well come when one of the laterals hits the ground. Since it's a backward pitch, it doesn't matter that it hits the ground. It's not considered an incomplete pass. But it appears to cause the Millsaps defense to hesitate, and Trinity takes advantage. The win put Trinity in the driver's seat for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title and automatic bid.

And in the end, it was just like Trinity drew it up. Or something.
