Bowdoin on hunt for new coach

More news about: Bowdoin

JB Wells Bowdoin College has announced that JB Wells will not return as head football coach for the 2019 season.

Wells became head coach of the Polar Bear football program in January 2015 and guided the squad over the last four seasons. Bowdoin recently completed the 2018 campaign with a 1-8 record.

The Polar Bells were 3-31 over Wells' four seasons.

"The college is grateful for JB's work in support of our football program and student-athletes, both on and off the field," said Ashmead White athletic director Tim Ryan. "During his four years at Bowdoin JB engaged deeply with our community and we wish him well as he continues his coaching career in the years ahead."

The college will conduct a national search for a new head coach and has retained a search firm to assist with the process.
