Jonathan Michaeles, who spent 14 years at Colby, six as head coach, will not return for 2018. The Mules were 14-35 under his tenure.

Colby won one game, beating longtime rival Bowdoin (0-9) by a 31-20 score in the season finale.

Michaeles, 45, had been the offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, academic advisor, and strength and conditioning director during his eight years as an assistant before moving up to the head coaching job in 2012. Previously, Michaeles had been offensive coordinator at St. Anselm, as well as a position coach at Fordham, Penn and Allegheny.

The Mules won four games in 2013, Michaeles' second season, one of three non-losing seasons in the past decade, but tailed off to 1-7 in 2015 and 1-8 this season.
