Wilkes athletic director Adelene Malatesta announced on Wednesday the departure of Trey Brown as head coach of the Colonels football program. Brown leaves Wilkes after a four-year tenure as the head mentor of the Colonels.

Wilkes was 7-33 in Brown's four seasons at the helm, including 0-10 this season. It's the first time Wilkes has lost 10 games in a season, and the program's first winless season since 1981. The Colonels have lost 11 consecutive games.

The school will begin a national search for its next head coach immediately.
