Anderson coach out after three years

More news about: Anderson

John Sala Anderson has announced that John Sala will not be retained as head football coach, and was out of the role effective immediately. Sala recently completed his third season as the Ravens head coach. He came to AU in January 2015.

The Ravens were 4-26 in his three seasons. Three of Anderson's wins were against Earlham, which has lost 43 consecutive games.

A hire from the junior college ranks, Sala had limited experience in Division III, having worked two short stints at Division III Kenyon and Buena Vista more than 15 years previously. He had been head coach at Louisburg College in Louisburg, N.C. for seven seasons.

Athletic director Marcie Taylor said: "I appreciate Coach Sala's work with the student-athletes and guidance of the AU football program over the past three seasons. I wish him all the best."

The previous Anderson head coach, Bobby Ladner, had no Division III experience before being hired. The Ravens went 2-28 in his three seasons.
