There will be a record 249 teams participating in Division III football this upcoming season, meaning we'll have about 1,250 regular season games. We have fewer than a hundred that are left to be announced.

We start with five games on Thursday, Sept. 1, including Washington & Lee at Johns Hopkins, a matchup of 2015 playoff teams. The opening weekend also features a playoff rematch, as Albion, which ended its 2015 season in the first round at the hands of Wabash, will start the 2016 season against Wabash as well.

St. John's and Wheaton each open the season facing teams helmed by former assistant coaches. The Johnnies host St. Scholastica, coached by former Johnnie player and assistant coach Kurt Ramler, while Wheaton faces Benedictine, led by former Wheaton offensive coordinator Josiah Sears.

The newest team to Division III football is Nebraska Wesleyan, a former dual member of the NAIA and NCAA Division III which is coming to Division III full-time. The Prairie Wolves have found a home in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Some of the late-reporting conferences are the Centennial, MASCAC, NJAC and USA South. For schools that don't have a full slate of games announced as of yet, a partial schedule will be displayed.
