In October 2010, Chris Norton suffered an injury on the football field for Luther College. It was an event that changed his life, although it did not end it.
Norton has spent the past four-plus years rehabilitating from the injury. Learning to walk, starting a foundation, inspiring people left and right. And over a fantastic Memorial Day weekend, Norton graduated from Luther, walking across stage to receive his diploma, then got engaged and appeared on national television.
His foundation, the SCI CAN foundation, works to promote recovery and long-term wellness for people with spinal cord injuries (SCI).
"Chris's amazing journey over the past five years is not only inspiring but also a true testament to hard work, dedication, faith and perseverance."
Norton and his fiancee, Emily Summers, appeared on Good Morning America this past week.
"It was a dream of mine to walk across that stage," Norton said. "And I set that goal and I knew I had to work as hard as I could to make it happen."
