Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks and former defensive lineman for Salisbury State, has been named head coach of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.

Quinn, a 1994 graduate of the school, when it was known as Salisbury State, was inducted into the school's athletics hall of fame in 2005. He was a mainstay on the defensive line for his final three years in maroon and gold, compiling 135 tackles (54 of which were solo stops), eight tackles for loss, a sack, two forced fumbles and one recovery. Quinn also registered one interception, which he returned 33 yards for a touchdown. He was a team captain in 1992 and 1993.

Quinn spent six seasons as a defensive line coach for the 49ers, Dolphins and Jets and two with the Seahawks before spending the 2011 and 2012 seasons as the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida. He returned to Seattle as the defensive coordinator the past two years, during which the Seahawks played in the Super Bowl both seasons.

He takes over a Falcons team that went 6-10 this past season.
