Lance Leipold took the UW-Whitewater head coaching job over from the man who coached him, Bob Berezowitz, and in the past seven-plus seasons he has made the Warhawks program his own, leading them to five Division III football national championships.
On Saturday, Whitewater defeated UW-Eau Claire, getting Leipold his 100th career win in just his 106th career game as a head coach, the fastest to do so in college football history.
"It's something that will sink in probably further down the road," Leipold said. "I'm very fortunate for the opportunity to be the head coach at UW-Whitewater. We have players that have played hard and bought into the philosophy, and we have a great group of assistant coaches who we've been able to retain. They've done an outstanding job."
The top-ranked Warhawks are 6-0 and have won 23 consecutive games.
The run to 100Lance Leipold reached 100 wins in fewer games than any previous college football head coach. The rest of the list: |
