Zavier Stringfellow was killed and found in a vehicle in the Vienna, Va., area on the evening of Dec. 28. Stringfellow played linebacker for Ferrum.

He was 19.

Stringfellow's death is being investigated as a homicide, with blunt force trauma to the upper body. Authorities said a 22-year-old man named Johnny Bonilla has been arrested in the stabbing.

He's the second Division III player to meet a violent death this season, along with Tim McNerney at Washington and Jefferson.

"An officer came across a minivan that had crashed into a barrier at the end of a service road off of Chain Bridge Road near Glengyle Drive," according to a statement by  Fairfax County police.

"The officer summoned for rescue and it was determined that the driver was deceased. Evidence suggested that the driver’s injuries may not have been caused by the crash; detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene."
